Association for Research Quality Assurance Professionals
About us:
DARQA aims to provide a platform for further development of Quality Assurance in research and development organizations and to promote the implementation thereof.
DARQA intends to achieve this by:
· Exchanging information and views applying to the (integration of) Good Practices- Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and other recognized quality (assurance) systems.
· Following, propagating and influencing developments in this field
· Promoting the expertise of DARQA’s members in the field of Quality Assurance and the recognition of DARQA as a centre of excellence
· Maintaining and encouraging contact with governmental bodies and other organizations that have the similar fields of interest as DARQA.
DARQA membership:
The membership of DARQA is a personal. It is available for those working in organizations for research and development or collaborating organizations and institutes, or those independently involved in:
· The monitoring of Good Practices and other recognized quality (control) systems
and/or
· The implementation of management of the monitoring of these systems
This wide definition was consciously chosen and for several years the association has opened its doors not only to those working in QA but also to CRAs, study directors, managers of companies performing studies, IT professionals, archivists etc. providing they are working within the fields specified above.

Task Forces
In some situations it may be desirable for a number of DARQA members to get their heads together to discuss new developments within a specific field and to come up with their view points or deliver information that can be shared with other DARQA members or with third parties.
The DARQA board members have set up a procedure that indicates criteria for initiating a Task Force, how the Task Forces should be formed, and the how the board will deliver the task.
The DARQA constitution also includes the formation of a Task Force.
Theme days and other meetings:
Throughout the year the committees organize theme days, workshop or shorter more informal meetings (cafes). These meetings may be related to specific subjects e.g. GLP, GCP, GMP or ICT but more and more often committees work together to organize subjects that cover more blood groups within the DARQA.
Theme days usually involve presentations that introduce a theme. These are followed by discussion in smaller groups or in plenary sessions.
Workshops are more interactive with fewer presentations and more hands-on activities in small groups. At the end of the workshop there is usually a feedback session with all the participants.
Cafes are more informal and shorter in duration. The subjects are chosen on a more ad-hoc basis and are related to the actual GXP climate. The accent in these meetings lies with very interactive exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences, usually following 1 or 2 short introductions.
The DARQA newsletter:
All members receive 3 newsletters per year. The newsletter is released in February, June and October. It contains interesting information relating to GxP, summaries of theme days, news from committees, and the calendar for up-coming activities, relevant training course dates and conference information etc. There is also a chairman’s address that keeps all the members updated on the activities of the DARQA board and other relevant information for the whole association.
Cooperation with other organisations

The Netherlands Federation for Innovative Drug Research (FIGON)

FIGON claims to be the integrative platform for innovative drug research in the Netherlands. The federation enhances already existing initiatives, signalizes new developments in this area of expertise and actively promotes its mission.

FIGON organises yearly the Dutch days of Medicines ("FIGON Geneesmiddeldagen") with themes which are likely to attract scientists from all the different disciplines and backgrounds.

FIGON coordinates, in cooperation with partners, training programs in the area of (innovative) drug research.

FIGON organises on a yearly basis meetings for technician with focus on exchange of and proper techniques.

FIGON publishes 4 times a year the magazine Conceptuur for their members.

European Quality Assurance Society (EQAS)
DARQA is a member of EQAS (the European Quality Assurance Society). This is a virtual network of QA societies within Europe. The main objective is to make sure that all European countries and their quality representatives are aware of new legislation, interpretations of various aspects by regulators and particularly changes in regulatory inspection status and attitude.
EQAS Mission Statement

It is the wish of all QA personnel to be able to act within the legal framework and to abide by legislation, whether it be in the form of Directives, guidance notes or advisory documents in the field of GLP, GCP and GMP. To be aware of current trends and to ensure that these documents are made available for interpretation and implementation, awareness of these in the first instance is of paramount importance. The networking situation within EQAS will ensure that key people within each national QA association are made aware of the documents, changes, methodological practices etc. and, following this, appropriate actions where applicable can be taken with either consensus documents produced by working parties, individual comments raised or, if at a national level and specific to that country, to discuss it directly with the national inspectorate.

Society of Quality Assurance (SQA)

DARQA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Society of Quality Assurance (USA). Amongst other things this has resulted in more exchange between the boards of both societies concerning complementary areas of interest.

Objective of the MOU

To enhance the service that the Dutch Association of Research Quality Assurance (DARQA) and the Society of Quality Assurance (SQA) provide to their membership, by increasing the communications between the two organizations
